She fronts a globally charting K-pop girl group. She hunts demons between tour dates. She carries a glowing pink sword in one hand and a secret she's been hiding since childhood in the other. This is Rumi Kang — the beating heart of Kpop Demon Hunters, Sony Pictures Animation's 29th feature — and this channel is dedicated to her.

Who is Rumi?

Full name: Rumi Kang (강루미) Role: Leader and main vocalist of HUNTR/X (pronounced Huntrix), a K-pop girl group that moonlights as a team of demon hunters Classification: Cambion — half human, half demon Age: 23–24 · Birthday: October 23 · Sign: Scorpio
Her voice is performed by Arden Cho; her singing by EJAE.

The look

Rumi is hard to miss. Her hair is vivid purple — a thick mohawk-style dragon braid that falls to her calves, tied off with a gold daenggi ribbon. She has monolid coffee-brown eyes, and when her powers spike, the left one shifts gold with a slit pupil.
Her signature stage outfit: a yellow-and-black cropped bomber jacket, white mock-neck crop top, dark indigo denim shorts, and platform boots. Off-stage she layers up to hide the eldritch purple marks that spread across her arms and neck when she's under stress — faint at first, blazing pink when she's pushed to the edge.
Her weapon is the Saingeom, a summoned sword that glows pink.

Backstory: the secret she's been carrying

Rumi was born to Mi-yeong Ryu, a former demon hunter and member of the Sunlight Sisters, who died shortly after Rumi's birth. Her demon father is absent. Her foster mother Celine — Mi-yeong's fellow hunter — raised her from infancy, trained her in combat and performance, and told her one thing above everything else: hide what you are.
Celine's promise was this: seal the Golden Honmoon — the ultimate barrier that would lock demons out of the human world forever — and the demon half would be purged from Rumi's body. Clean. Human. Safe.
Rumi built her whole identity around that goal.

The story: what actually happens

HUNTR/X finishes a world tour. Rumi is close — so close — to triggering the Golden Honmoon with her single Golden. But the demon marks are spreading faster than she can hide them, and she's losing her voice.
Then the Saja Boys arrive: a demon-operated idol group sent by Gwi-Ma, the demon king, to shatter the Honmoon. Their leader, Jinu, figures out what Rumi is. He doesn't use it against her immediately. Instead, he tells her something she's never heard before: the marks aren't a curse to be removed. They're shame — shame that Gwi-Ma uses to control demons. Jinu carries the same marks.
Rumi makes a deal with him. He betrays her anyway, exposing her identity on stage at the Idol Awards in front of her teammates and the world.
What follows is the core of the film: Rumi's total collapse and reconstruction. She flees, confronts Celine, and says the line that's become the most-shared quote from the movie:
"Why couldn't you love ALL of me?!"
Then she goes back. Not to hide. Not to complete the mission. To fight as herself — demon marks visible, voice raw — and she tells Gwi-Ma: "The Honmoon is gone. So we can make a new one."
